Ok, I know I am going to get some "eww, thats sick" or "why did you do that" because people seem to do it on everything here but, yesterday I noticed this off taste in my mouth and I thought it was just the odd after taste of a slushy till I looked at my tongue and in the back of my mom it was like a white/yellow tint and I did mouthwash and I could still taste it so I took my toothbrush and pulled out my tongue and brushed it with my toothpaste and it went away and I don't taste that stuff anymore or see anything on my tongue and I haven't looked at it till this morning so, is it infected or just trying to heal?

Well, I have had it pierced for 4 days and I was really worried because right before I looked at it I read about a bad story about a tongue piercing infection. It doesn't hurt but it still is kinda swollen. I am just so glad I didn't wake up with it yellow. My doctor is closed till tuesday. The person that said it might be the food that got stuck and is coming out kind of made me think that maybe that was the case, could that of happened?

I got my tongue pierced this last Friday. What is happening to you is happening to me..it is gross!
It's just trying to heal! Don't freak! I did plenty of freaking myself and have gotten tons of ewws and gross on here.
Just keep your mouth clean. You should be carrying around ice water with ya and constantly swishing, it will keep the yuck out of your mouth. I am on day 9 now and have mellowed out on the mouthwash a lot. Another thing make sure your not using Listerine..use non alcohol mouthwash. The alcohol in the Listerine will kill the tongues natural healers and it will take longer for your piercing to heal.
Just a little more advice..follow your instincts.
Don't let other people make you feel like trash because of your decision, there are no mistakes in life just lessons learned. If all else fails you can always take it out, the hole will grow back and no one will ever know that you had it!
The best person to contact would be your piercer...and reading horror stories on the internet doesn't help either! Check this site..www.safepiercing.org. Has some great info and good luck!

If you go to a doctor with this he will take it out, and let's face it, at this point it ain't goin' back in! I suggest a Hydrogen Peroxide or Epsom salts rinse. If you swallow peroxide it can hurt you seriously!!! On the other hand, epsom salts are safe but will give you the squirts. They will both help remove the infection pus and start the healing process. Email me for recipe. If this problem continues for too long it could be a very serious even fatal. If you have any doubts, see a doctor immediately. If the infection get in your blood, it will cause ghas gangrene. This, an often fatal blood infection, can be stopped by removing infected parts. Yes, I am trying to scare you, it is that SERIOUS! Best wishes and God bless.

I almost passed over your question. But I heard a war story about the same problem. It sounds like you have matters well in hand. But don't take mouth infections lightly. What is your rule of thumb for seeing a doctor? Mine is after five days.... Good luck. Maybe a visit to the doc will make you feel better.

It could be that food particles are getting stuck in it and decaying, hence the yucky taste. The yellowish color tells me it could be infected. And, I'm sorry, but why anyone wants to drive a nail through their tongue is just beyond me!

how long has it been pierced? does it hurt? is it red? does it have yellow and white puss coming out? it might be infected. Id call the place that pierced it and ask them. they might suggest you take the ring out. some peoples bodies don't like the jewelry and try to remove the foreign object its weird to explain but definitely call the place that pierced it good luck and happy new year

The white/yellow tint stuff was from your boyfriend. Isn't that why you got your tongue pierced in the first place?

duh...the white/yellow tint is normal, every human being have that. what you tasted have nothing to do with it. go and check your friend's tongue.

Sounds more like the "slushy"!! Just make sure it doesn't recur!
