I would not call it a religious act but a just act for the iraqi people. The religious retribution will come when he stands before God to account for his actions. He may well wish for the hanging to begin again rather than deal with the wrath of God.

It was not-----------------he was hung at the beginning of the Sunni Eid. This was very disrespectful. The Shia Eid does not start till Sunday. This puts blasphemy to the Muslim Eid.

I am not a Muslim, but, I think it was a very wrong timing.

it was a political act.

I don't beleive he was being tried for religios reasons,
but for acts of war, and acts against his people.
