Bush said he was going to be hanged before the end of the year before the trial even started.

let me start by saying i didn't like the guy and sympathise with families of his victims.....i hope that they get some closure from his death.

as to his trial............in case anyone has forgotten, the original accusation and reason for the invasion of iraq is that he was stockpiling weapons of mass destruction. well, no WMDs were found so you could say he was innocent of that.

so what did his captors do instead? they handed him over to an iraqi government whom many suspect of being puppets. so yeah, i would say it doesn't take a brilliant fortune teller to foretell the outcome of the trial.

this really stinks, since the result is a shadow of doubt as to the objectiveness of the trial process and validity of the sentence. it would have been far better if he were tried for war crimes by an international court. now he is widely perceived as a martyr and a victim of a conniving US administration. not a good outcome for those seeking justice for his crimes against their families.

I think the trial was done as fairly as it needed to be. It would be hard to judge someone so horrible, and keep it fair. I agree that they could probably never find an unbiased court. I don't think they could ever find a punishment fit for his crimes, but I hope, in the end they were able to live with their chioces.

He was tried in an Iraqi court. He was lucky he got what he did. They could have shot him on site. Why is it when a murderous individual such as Saddam gets killed some people get so upset? Stop and think of all the innocent people he killed and tortured. Get over it.

the trial of saddam was as fair as the deaths he and his sons inflicted upon hundreds of thousands of iraqi men, women, and children. these martyrs didn't have a chance. many say saddam didn;t have a chance for acquittal. there's an old adage which surface in saddam's case----WHAT GOES AROUND, COMES AROUND.
i don't believe in capital punishment, but i do believe in conviction and severe punishment. saddam should have received a physical/emotional punishment as severe is tolerable.

He got what he deserved. I do also think that it was done at the beginning of the Sunni Eid-to insult them. The Shia Eid does not start till Sunday. I do think this was not needed. The Sunnis and Shias are at war with each other, but, they still could have respected Eid.

What would be your idea of fair? Get a lawyer (liar) like Johnny Cochran to buy his way off? He was sentenced fairly and justly for a few hundred deaths he caused. He caused many many others as well.

He was treated more fairly than he treated those he executed with no trial at all...not even a puppet court. He got what he deserved.

Of course not, but too late now. umm, if you want an honest opinion or idea, you need to see it from this idea. according to your name you're an aethiest, Saddam killed thousands of people because of religious preference, now do you think it should've mattered whether it was a puppet court or not? Personnally i would've had his jaw perminately ripped open like in "Saw", i find that more pleasant in Saddam's case.
