I plan to ask this girl whom i really really like for a date this coming velantines. So is it more sincere to ask her in person or give her a call and ask for a date? And ladies, what gifts do you expect on a first date?

You need to open up a little more and stop being shy or you're going to miss the boat. Try and talk to her a little more when you're around her so u & she can be comfortable with & around one another.
Hopefully after a few days you'll feel more comfortable and she will too...and just start talking more, even call, text her on the phone and hopefully by the end of january. You'll have enough momentum built up where u can ask her to be your valentines. And, I think a nice date would be something like skating and eatting afterwards or whatever. I really don't recommend movies unless u don't want to interact with her. Because the whole time u are to be focus on the screen u want to show you're personality and show her that you're intersting and fun to be with.

I guess every woman is different but for me it doesn't matter if a man asked me out in person or over the phone. More than likely, I would not turn a man down if he asked me in person. It's easier to say no over the phone. I really don't expect any gifts on the first date but it is Valentine's Day so maybe a small heart filled with chocolates might be nice. One thing that you can always take when you go to pick her up is an inexpensive small bunch of fresh flowers. Doesn't have to be roses just some nice flowers from the market.

It would definitely be best to ask in person. As far as the gift goes, I don't much care for gifts on the first date, but if you want to do that, flowers would be nice and not just any flower, something she really likes.
Just ask her out and on the day of the date just bring your self and be yourself throughout cause that who you want her to like. BTW, I suggest you go out with her on dates and not just wait on v-day. Ask her to the movies or to hang out with some friends and yourself that type of thing, that way you'll get to know her better and you will hopefully know for sure what kind of flower would really get her attention.

Always ask out a girl in person and dont give her a gift on the first date, who gives gifts on the first date? It's nice i'm sure, but your just showing her that your desperate.

Gifts? You're asking her on a date, not marriage. Go up to her and just ask.
A word of warning, though: don't care about the result. Women can smell nervousness and desperation a mile away. If you want a chance of success, you have to exude confidence. In other words, if you don't care either way, you won't be nervous.

It depends if you get a vibe from her. If you are shy and she knocks you back it may make you more shy. Try to find out before then if she is intersted in you and if she is ask her face to face. I don't expect anything on a first date but flowers are nice!

always ask the girl in question out for the date in person and not by phone this she will find more sincere than by phone cos you can see all the emotions and expression on her face when she agrees to the date and always be your self

Before you ask her out, get to know her better find out what she likes so you know what to get for her.
I would expect flowers :) (those are always nice) candy, and maybe jewelry (a necklace or earrings or something) that way, if she wears it the next day, you'll KNOW she had a good time and she's interested.
