I would also move to Brighton, the place is alive with all kinds of people. Nobody is shy there, everybody seems to love life and i just love that place. Don't live there though. But nice place if you like people-watching and loads to do.:)))

If you are a student or have children who want to go to university then the Scottish system of no fees is better. Students in England go broke very quickly having to pay student loans. The cost of living is also generally less the further North you go from London and the South East, though the wages are less as well. The weather is better in England, but conversely at least Scotland and Northern England will never be short of rain and subject to drought orders by the water companies. People are supposed to be friendlier the further north you go, but there is really no truth in that old saying. Some northern or Scottish regional accents may take some getting used to as opposed to 'BBC English', but then you could say that about 'cockney' London accents too.
However, I'm with other answerers. I live here, and the UK is not all it's cracked up to be, especially with Tony Blair in charge. Personally I'd suggest New Zealand, Canada or Australia as far more attractive destinations, but hey if you want to come here who am I to burst your dreams.

It is rumoured that the further away you live from London, the friendlier the people are. The same could probably said for the other capitals too (Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast), although there are obviously nice people everywhere. And don't listen to the stupid idiots who keep droning on about England (or Britain or whatever) being full, outsiders taking our jobs etc etc, actually quite a lot of us in this country are fair-minded and intelligent enough to realise that immigration is good for the country, helps the economy and exposes us to new and interesting ways of thought.

It depends what your looking for.
If your after a hussling bustling city then there is no better place than Manchester, UK.
If you want to live in a nice quiet countryside place then look at Ambleside in the Lake District, UK.
And for the Scottish alternatives, Aberdeen is a wonderful City and Ayr is very nice and picturesque.
The weather would probably edge on being a bit nicer in the UK though.... :-)

The further north you go, the colder the weather is.
How well do you speak English? You may find some regional accents difficult to understand.
What sort of work do you want to do? - you would do better going to an area that has work.
good luck on your decision.
