Every country in the EU has its own citizenship laws. In most you can acquire citizenship if one of your parents was a citizen. In others (Ireland, for example) you can acquire citizenship by proving that a grandparent was a citizen. Others require naturalization, and the processes vary. Go now. You'll get a week visa with will not allow you to work which will give you plenty of time to secure residency, citizenship or homelessness.

Don't get me wrong I have traveled to Europe and enjoy it but throwing away my US citizenship? Sorry spent my time serving it too many times to every leave.
