This is my take on God. The only one, of which I am aware, that has a researched basis and therefore evidence of its validity.
Group work theory tells us that in any group of number N there are N + 1 personalities, one for each person in the group and one generated by the group itself. Therefore, given the population of the world N, there are N + 1 personalities. The + 1 is God. This is the summation of our best aspirations and goals, the commonality of our human experience, the manifestation of our love for each other.
This commonality can be seen in the religious and spiritual writings of the worlds religions. The golden rule, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.", appears in practically all religious or spiritual writings in one form or another throughout the world.
Some would say that this makes me an atheist. The fact that I don't conceive of God as a sentient entity or being, wielding the sword of retribution and sending sinners to hell, makes me a "non believer" in the interpretation of many people. I think it's time we evolved in our thinking. We are no longer skulking about in caves, dancing by the fire without modern medicine, science and education.

The universe is a tiny little spot that God allowed us to shade from the light so we could see what darkness would be like if it actually existed.

There's nothing called darkness , darkness is the absence of light.
God has control over the whole universe, but is not in this universe in person. God is in this universe in his knowledge and power over it.
God's form is not known and it's nothing that we have seen in our lives.

Because this world is our home, not His. We live in darkness, the only light here comes from Him, this is a fallen world.

You should ask, who is God. He is the Creator of all things. We know that we have His personal attributes, because we are made in His image. God created night and day, which really is for our benefit. The human mind cannot truly comprehend God. That is why Jesus came to the world so you could understand God. We can relate to a fellow human being and Jesus can relate to us in our human condition. God shines His light in your heart and soul when you believe in Him and search for Him. Its a really good adventure.

God is attributed with supernatural power and I do not know whether God is a light or darkness because we actually cannot see God. God is in our beliefs.

This is the problem with discussions of God. No one can describe it. Even the discussion of whether God is alive or dead makes no sense, since the only way something can be said to be alive is through biological means, and no one any longer describes God as a biological being.
If you cannot define something, what meaning does it have to believe in it?

The sum total of everything in the universe-the cosmic consciousness that links every living thing and each individual consciousness is an integral part of it.

We are the light of the world, perhaps we are hiding our light under a basket. Maybe not.
