I always found that the foundation is love most of all. What I mean by love is, acceptance of who you are, and the soul mate God intended you to be with. Trust is the other. You have to learn trust. Trust is something that comes in time . Forgiveness is a ongoing and a must. Not just for your mate, but also for yourself. Compassion and insitivity of each others feelings. Last but not least.....Respect. Without respect, you cant do the above. I love your question. I have had to battle this for myself and my relationships alot. Wisdom shows us the way on this journey. I have some advices for u , dude, since, it is your 1st experience at falling madly in love, u will tend to do whatever the person asks you to do to please him or her...Be strong at that time, stay strong to who you are, don't change for someone else, and don't let people change you in what is important for you, know what you want from the relationship, set the priorities and stick to them ...
Also, you should also learn to compromise and meet your partner in the halfway, find a bridge between what is important for you and what is important to her ....but, you have remember something, you must only try to compromise on things you know you will be comfortable with later ....if you are not comfortable with something , don't compromise on it, you will end up only regretting it later and be resentful ...
and last thing, communication , communication, communication, and learn to trust your partner ...A good loving relationship is about trust after all ...

Well, first you need to know that the other person feels the same for you. If not, you'll be wasting your time and energy on someone who may not ever appreciate you. Relationships have to be 2 sided not "One Way"...that's the biggest mistake that most women make. Girls and guys don't "love" the same way...so be ready for some rude awakenings from him.

It best to take your time and do not rush into things. Make sure you and the person you are involve with share the same ideas when comes to a relationship. Take your time and talk about what you need and value in a relationship. Do not waste time if person does not share your ideas or views.
