i hate that expression- BUYING LOVE-- i rather look at it as a way of trying to make up for lost time and getting you what you want . They are probably feeling guilty, and remember - gifts come from the heart. they could continue to not spend time and not give you money and not get you a darn thing!!
Do they have demanding jobs? Have you tried to ask them why they keep buying you things? and tell them, ya know -I appreciate what you are getting for me, but may I plz have the money instead, cuz this is all immaterial and I can go further with the money that you are spending. THANKS ( but no thanks..) Try it hun, it works.
Also u said that u dont really talk, ask then why they can't spend a little time, or suggest things that you may want to do...even if it is watching a 30 min rerun of a sitcom. Could very well be, that everyone is so disconnected- NO ONE knows where to start-stick up for your self!
"GET THE CONVERSATION STARTED" MAKE THAT A NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION...
you won't regret it
best of luck and happy new year!

I didn't read your other question but I would agree that they are either buying your love or paying off their guilt for not spending time with you and your brothers.

FROM THE WAY IT 'S WRITTEN, YOUR PARENTS ARE BUYING YOU LOVE. IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT SIT DOWN AND HAVE A TALK WITH THEM EXPLAIN TO THEM HOW YOU FEEL AND WHAT YOU WANT FROM THEM, PARENTS THESE DAYS ARE SO CAUGHT UP IN THEIR JOBS,FINANCIAL PROBLEM,ETC AND DON'T EVEN REALIZE WHAT GOING ON IN THEIR OWN HOMES.

Sounds like they feel pretty guilty and are trying to replace the lost time with "stuff." That's pretty sad, you should talk to them.

maybe in a bad way they are trying to make up for the time they do not spend with you and your brother.

parents these days are so wrapped up in getting the best for their kids and making sure kids want for nothing that they're forgetting the one thing kids really need most .... parents who are there ... supporting, loving and participating in their lives ... even if we like to say we don't want it ... we don't want to truly be without it!!!
