If you are sexually active on a regular you should get tested regularly, particularly if you're not in a committed relationship. My last testing was about 3 years ago. before that i was tested every year since i was 16 and i am 26 now. I am, however, married and trust that i don't have to do it every year, but your GYN should keep you up on testing if you disclose to him/her about your sex life.

You should definitely get tested. My doctor recommends that you should be tested every 6 months. The reasoning is that you may have come in contact with someone who has it and has passed it to you but it doesn't always pop up on the test. Whether your in a monogamous relationship or not you should be tested. You can only account for your actions and no one else's. (Because you are not sleeping around doesn't mean your partner isn't!!) It's better to be safe and no your status!!

Amazing that people still spout character judgements in this day and age. Anyway, to answer your question, you should be tested every six months if you are sexually active. This is regardless of whether you are monogamous, practice serial monogamy (only one person at a time, but short time periods) or have multiple partners.

I think people should get tested for peace of mind. But unless one is in a high risk category there is no reason to get tested regularly. Regardless of one's result, high risk behavior should be eliminated. Or at the very least, one should take the necessary precautions when engaging in high risk behavior
