Save, how? The second farmers couldn't sell their livestock, the second they couldn't make a profit, they wouldn't keep them any more. Keeping animals isn't cheap, and to keep them, without profit, would be hugely expensive to any farmer. How many do you reckon would be prepared to make that kind of loss?
If you think vegetarianism aves any animals you are mistaken, if not deluded. The animals won't get to live out their days in peace, they'll still end up at the abattoir. Whether it means less animals are bred doesn't change this, although with the meat industry booming like it is now that isn't happening anyway.
Vegetarianism doesn't save animal's lives, it just disassociated people from their deaths.

My first thought was "NO WAY! How could one person eat 95 animals in one year". BUT... then I thought about HOW people eat. We don't eat the entire animal. Most meat eaters prefer chicken breast over other parts (when I ate meat, I ate breasts exclusively)... well... each chicken only has two of those... so for every two breasts you eat you're killing a bird. For a large family... you could knock off several birds in one meal! Same applies to stuff like ribs, certain roasts, etc. If a person eats cuts only from certain parts of the animal, they're killing more animals than they might think. So yeah... I can see where 95 animals could be possible (especially if you throw in fish too).

Like someone else said if we don't buy the meat someone else does. I'm not sure if I agree that we're saving 95 animals a year from being slaughtered. I get told by a lot of people "You know you're not going to stop the killing of animals" and my response is "I know, I just don't support it"

Nope.

Those animals are dead anyway. The market will provide for the selling and eating of those animals anyway. The economic impact of ONE person passing the meat aisle by may amount to a 2 cent price reduction, which actually benefits us meat eaters, allowing us to purchase MORE meat, resulting in even more animal slaughter.

Mwa Ha ha ha hahahahah! (evil laughter...)

psh you don't save any animals. The producers of the meat keep killing the same amount of animals regardless if you eat the meat or not.

yes. I don't know exactly how many lives I've not consumed, but I've been vegetarian for almost ten years.

i think for someone who eats meat for a meal 3 times a day maybe it would save even more... Maybe youd should be more concerned with making sure they are killed safely then not killing them at all.... its a much more productive and easy to win battle!

theoretically sure... but tons of people would have to do that to decrease demand for meat and therefore cause a reduction in supply. get your friends to turn veg too!
