When people say "I'm a HALF vegetarian" because they don't eat red meat? Personally I think to be in the first stage of vegetarianism you shouldn't eat any type of meat at all. What are your opinions on this?

Ha-ha! I know that's like saying, "I'm a little pregnant." You either are or you aren't. You either eat meat, meaning the flesh of animals, or you don't.
I didn't even know there were stages of vegetarianism.
Personally, I don't even get the whole "I'm vegetarian, I only eat fish," deal. That's still the flesh of an animal! Hello?!

Just to clear things up:

Pescarian- eats fish but no meat.

Pollo-vegetarian- eats chicken but not meat

Vegetarian / Lacto-ovo Vegetarian - does not eat meat but does eat eggs/ dairy.

Vegan- does not eat meat, eggs, dairy, or anything that comes from an animal (such as leather)

I have never heard anyone use that term. Fish is a good source of protein so a lot of vegetarians opt to eat it, as well as eggs and cheese. If they are choosing not to eat any meat or dairy at all that is Vegan

There's no such thing as a "half vegetarian." You people need to stop kidding yourselves.
Pigs are animals. Chickens and turkeys are animals. Fish are animals.
If you eat animals of any kind, you're NOT a vegetarian. PERIOD.

yeah. love it when they say that they're vegetarian, but that they eat chicken and fish. do they just want to sound cool? I didn't know being vegetarian was cool. Or that they are "practically vegetarian, I hardly eat any meat" --whatever!

There are different types of vegetarians. It's personal preferences. Some eat eggs and milk products, some dont, and some only eat fish. There's no Vegetarian Law.

yeah, i think it's stupid too. almost all meat eaters are half vegetarians, not everyone eats ONLY meat all the time. that person should just say, "i don't eat red meat" and leave it at that. yes, it is a free country....but you're just stupid if you don't know how to use words correctly. (i guess we're free to be stupid too, haha!)

I think it`s silly too.

I for example don`t eat any kind of meat, but I eat dairy products, still I don`t call myself a vegetarian.

Maybe these people wish they were considered vegetarians becuase it would make them more interesting in other people`s eyes.
