I am bringing something to drink, but would like to bring a dish that doesn't need much more prep work or reheating at the party. It's adults in their 30s-40s, and maybe a few kids wandering around. The meal menu is very casual (hot dogs, ribs, etc). Anyone have any fun ideas?

How about some Pepperoni Puffs?

1 cup flour
1 cup milk
1 egg
3/4 - 1 cup chopped pepperoni
3/4 - 1 cup shredded cheese (I usually mix cheddar and mozzarella)

Mix all ingredients together. Pour batter into greased mini muffin cups, bake at 350 until golden brown, about 10 - 12 minutes.
Double the recipe for a larger crowd.

These can be made ahead of time and are great at room temperature.. no reheating required!

How about bringing some meatballs with or without sauce. It will be great use your favorite recipe maybe put the sauce on the side. I have so many ideas of things you could bring. How about pups in a blanket, finger sandwiches, or some chips and dip. I hope that I have been some help to you.

Black Eyed Peas are supposed to be eaten at the New Year for good luck!

Black Eyed Pea Dip

INGREDIENTS:

* 4 ounces butter
* 1/2 cup chopped onion
* 1/2 clove garlic, finely minced
* 12 ounces shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
* 2 cans (15 ounces each) black-eyed peas, drained and rinsed, or about 4 cups cooked and drained
* 1 jalapeno pepper, seeds removed, finely chopped
* 1 can (4 ounces) chopped green chilies
* salt and pepper, to taste

In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, melt the butter. Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden in color; add garlic and cook for 30 seconds longer. Turn heat to low and add cheese, stirring until melted.

Add the black-eyed peas, chopped jalapeno and green chiles. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Taste and add salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot in slow cooker or in a chafing dish.
Serves 8.

Rye Bread Dip/Rye Boat
Veggies & Dip
7 Layer Salad
Holiday cookies
Shrimp dip---Take cream cheese, spread it on a plate. Take shrimp/seafood sauce and put that on top of the cream cheese. Put salad shrimp on top of that. Use it for cracker spread.

Go to www.recipezaar.com and look around for recipes and such. theres a bunch of recipes for rye bread dip on there and its very addicting....my moms family makes that for every party they have. It does need to be baked for 45 minutes but its WONDERFUL.

This is a easy one. Stay with something simple. Like home baked cookies, or a bowl of fruit cocktail. Cookies would be perfect since there are going to be kids there and they are going to have hot dogs.

stop by your local grocery store and check out what they have in the deli area. our grocery deli has lots of prepared snack trays (cheese & sausage, veggies or fruit w/dip, cheeseballs, etc...) or dips and you can just pick up a box of crackers or chips to go with. if you would like to make something, try any cheeseball recipe, but roll into several 1" balls instead of one big one, coat w/nuts & jab each one with a pretzle stick (use like an edible toothpick).

How about pinwheels? Get the big burrito torillas, some deli meats, lettuce, shredded cheese, and your favorite dip. Spread your dressing or dip over, then layer your meats and cheeses and veggies, then roll up and cut into 1/2" slices.
