According to my Cardiologist once it is there, you don't get rid of it except by angioplasty. I have 5 stents in place and feel great!
I went on the fish oil, garlic, low cholesterol diet, and everything else anyone suggested to me. None of it did any good.
I went to the hospital ER in June having a heart attack. Luckily, I got there early and they were able to give me the injections to prevent heart damage.
Some of us just have bad DNA and nothing short of statins will help us.

There's an invasive procedure coupled with good dieting.
the surgical alternative may involve stents to dilate the arteries or to manually dissolve the plaque deposits using a spinning blade (forgot what the procedure is called).
There's a good diet: garlic, fish oils, low fat, low cholesterol diets, fiber. So eat your fruits and vegetables. They provide vitamins and minerals essential for our health.
There's a therapy: This therapy is very expensive and rarely done. It's an Apolipo protein. Originally discovered in Limone, Italy. Record showed that people lived for over 100 y.o. Anyways, apolipo protein naturally exists in the body especially to those people who lived in Limone, Italy. It is an inherited trait and now it can be produced. So, how does it work? It absorbs your LDL and get rids of the plaque build up in your arteries thus leading to less constriction of your arteries and prolonging life. You can opt for this if you have money. Treatment may last for months but the results are unparalleled compared to the common treatment modalities.

You probably are referring to cholesterol buildup. You must eat many green leafy vegetables to help with that. Other than that, proper exercise helps.
