Basically, no pharmaceutical is safe. If it is to work, it must go into the blood, if it is the blood, it is going to get into the breast milk. Pharmaceuticals basically, do not cure problems, but move them around. Mucinex, if I remember correctly is designed to help with respiratory problems. The lungs are totally awesome! I have had very good results using a cool mist vaporizer (humidifier) available at Wal-mart or Walgreen's. I add one pint of Hydrogen Peroxide (the cheap stuff from the drug store) to the Gallon of water in the humidifier, then run the humidifier in the bedroom as I sleep. Also, drink adequate water, you might be dehydrated, and add a little good, balanced salt to the water (about a pinch) if that sounds like a good idea to you. I am convinced that your mind has some idea what you need and that if you ask the right question--(would I feel better if I had a drink of water-- or a hot bath-- or?) you often will get good guidance

Ask the pharmacist. Or your doctor. Not strangers on the internet.
Don't compromise your baby's health by asking on yahoo answers... just my opinion.
