Your numbers are not bad at all. You have to look at the big picture here:
Do you smoke,
are you diabetic,
do you havehigh blood pressure,
Any history of EARLY heart disease in family? (that means before 50 for male relatives and before 60 for female relatives)
Are you male
and lastly your age.

The above are the risk factors one has to be concerned about. But going back to your question, the only two things that will increase your HDL are excercise and alcohol. all claims made on cereal boxes and orange juice containers are a bunch of huey!!

If I was your doctor and if there was no other issues, Id leave your numbers alone. In medicine there is a joke. If you want to increase your HDL, then run from bar to bar (excercise and alcohol)

Oh and Niacin does increase your HDL, but in your case with a normal LDL it is not indicated...so cheers !!

Exercise is an established way to increase your HDL's diet alone can help you lower LDL's but not raise HDL's. Taking niacin is a good cheap way to raise HDL's and lower LDL's. Take the straight niacin, the no flush does not work, and the time release is liver toxic. If you are not sure if you are a candidate for niacin talk to your doctor. Niacin works in the liver so you must start with a healthy liver.
