It depends on what type of vegetarian. Many vegetarians and vegans do not eat anything with gelatin in it, which can include a lot, like jell-o. So depending how strict you want to be, you may need to do a lot of label reading. "PETA" has a lot of info on this if you wanted to google their site. Buying a subscription to "Vegetarian Times" would also be a good start. You may have a harder row to hoe, depending on where you live. If you have access to traditional Hindi Indian restaurant, many are vegetarian.
Quinoa is a great grain with lots of protien that you can buy at most major chains and also keeps long on the shelf and can buy in bulk. You can also mail oder "Spirutein" type protien to add to smoothies, that also comes in bulk with long shelf life. To eat healthy, no matter whether vegie or not, really you have to educate yourself.

Congratulations! You've made a wonderful choice.
I believe the easiest and best way to become and stay a vegetarian is to take one step at a time. Generally resolutions fail because people have an "all or nothing" mentality. You can start by translating you favorite recipes currently to vegetarian by removing the meat or substituting it with tofu, boca, morning star, etc. Good luck!

Vegetables and fruits are good, but they become boring after a long time. Lots of Italian food is made without meats: plain pizza is good, and pasta is excellent as you can get many different flavors and sauces without the meat. Rice is great, too, basmati rice with a dash of hot sauce is a great dish. Good luck!

Grains (pasta, whole grain breads, rice, quinoa), veggies, fruits, beans, eggs and cheese (if you want to be a lacto-ovo vegetarian), soy products etc.
I eat alot of whole wheat pasta dishes, stir frys and vegetarian stews (stew made with carrots, potatoes, diced tomatoes, seasonings and vegetable stock), vegetarian tacos, casseroles and alot more. I suggest getting a cookbook for beginners.

Vegetarian diet is just about leaving meat. You could still eat all types of vegetables, fruits, nuts, lentils, milk, tofu, soy, wheat, bread, pasta (with no meat), cheese/ mushroom/ onion pizza, ice-creams etc etc. As for drinking, any kind of juice, veg soup, milk, soy shakes can be consumed.

brown rice, legumes, beans, salads, boca burgers, morning star and amy's are both good veggie/vegan brands of frozen food (amy's also has soups and other canned things.) most cereals are veggie/vegan. you can try soy milk (it takes some getting use to though, chocolate is the best kind) or almond milk (of course you dont have to try either since being veggie you can still have milk) umm cheese is not always vegetarian so watch out! if it uses something called rennet in it then its not veggie. you can also have veggies and fruits obviously. breads, eggs... dont forget your vitamins.
