Okay, here is your answer. There's no absolute guarantee even when you use a condom that you won't catch something. But most experts believe that the risk of getting AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases can be greatly reduced if a condom is used properly.

In other words, sex with condoms isn't totally "safe sex," but it is "less risky" sex.

Condoms will not protect 100% percent from STDs. Most of the failures are because the condom broke or the man didn't put in on right. Condoms have a prevention rate of about 95%.

The only way to prevent STD's is abstinence. Just for example, I have written this one before, but I will write it again. Have you ever heard of someone getting pregnant while the male wore a condom? Well the HIV virus is ten times smaller than sperm. So if sperm can get through a condom, than the HIV virus can also. Condoms are porous(they have miniscule holes in them). They are a good way to minimize the chance of getting an STD, but are not 100%

I know this board is confusing about things like that. They aren't 100% but they are effective. Don't be discouraged because if used properly they're 97% effective.

Only thing that prevents STDs is abstinence.

Just like any birth control device. it is not 100% effective. Using a Condom is not 100% effective to prevent STD's but it is the best thing available with the exception of abstinence.

my opinion seriously a couple is going at it there is a lot of fluid getting everywhere mind you ive never heard of a dry pubic area after sex theres no way that fluid is not going to get in contact with the genitals really after a while one's just arent really caring about it second condoms are not bullet proof now a days nothing is even is your in a managomous marriage they dont test for diseases ant more when you get a marriage certificate at least not in pa so you have to trust God that you're not making a mistake it's just best off that you don't have sex until you're married just like you have already planned

Nothing will prevent 100% STD's
Why ? No company on the planet is going to write 100% on their products. Sorry but thats the question allot of people ask themselves after they get pregnant or get STD's. They always say "I used protection."

"Barrier" methods are somewhat effective, but not 100% effective. They can leak or break, exposing your partner to your fluids.

The ONLY effective way to avoid STD's is to abstain from sexual intercourse. Of course, once you get married, the only way you'll know your partner is STD-free is to have them tested.. but as I'm sure you are aware, there's a real problem with asking someone you want to be intimate with to get checked. Some may not have a problem with it, others will be offended.

In 2003, The Medical Institute in the USA published a report entitled Sex, Condoms & STDs: What We Now Know.

Here are a few of the conclusions reached in their studies:

"HIV sexual transmission is reduced by approximately 85% with 100% condom use."

"There is no evidence of any risk reductin for sexual transmission of human papilloma virus infection (HPV) even with 100% condom use"

"...Current data show that even with 100% condom use, there remains a 50% to 71% relative risk of syphilis infection."

"Current evidence does not show that trichomonas vaginalis sexual transmission is reduced even with 100% condom use."

Of course different studies yield different results, but it's enough to know that the only 100% safe sex is betwen two mutually exclusive partners (i.e. Husband and wife) remaining faithful to each other for life.

Happy to hear you are waiting until marriage. Your future spouse with appreciate it. Don't let anyone pressure you into changing your mind!
