I had an hiv test and it was where they used a swab and scrapped the inside of my mouth. Thank god it was negative but is this test the same as a blood test? Is it as effective as a blood test? I am just scared maybe you can get a false negative like you can from a pregnancy test? Please let me know something?

Yes, this test is extremely accurate. You are much more likely to receive a false positive than a false negative, although a false positive is very unlikely too.

if ur nervous tell them. get another one done and tell them u would prefer to have a blood test. im doing an internship in sanfransisco for world aids day corps and they said they wish more people would go get tested. i coulndt believe that they would say "no dont wory about aids go home" even if u have to lie and say u just had unprotected sex. the people in these clinics are trying to stop the spread of hiv just like me so go out and get tested again and again til ur sure!!!

the test is very accurate, except that it cannot detect infections occuring less than 6 months before the test is administered

You should get a blood test just to be sure. Please check out my webpage: http://home.comcast.net/~jalovett/ChristianHealth.html

Thanks and I will pray for you.
