if your pain lasts more then 3-5 days you should get it checked out. You could possibily just have some inflammation of the lining of your lungs which gets more and more irritated when coughing, because coughing strains the lining of your lungs. If you smoke you could have something like bronchitis which I would recommend getting that checked out. Heart burn is usually triggered by certain foods you eat so i would rule that out unless you are eating a lot of spicy foods or alcohol.

Because you mention that you are coughing, it sounds like you have a chest congestion in your lungs. The purpose of a cough really is a body's way of attempting to aspirate flems and foreign substances out of the respiratory tract. When it fails to do so, bronchitis (inflammation of the bronchioles) can result.

People can offer suggestions all night long but the best advice is for you to seek medical attention immediately. Chest pain is often a sign of an (oncoming) acute illness.

Sounds like you may have asthma. Try drinking coffee or taking a hot bath. If that helps, contact a doctor and consider going on an inhaler.
