Generally all fruits contain sugar....my husband who is Type 1 diabetic (insulin dependent) takes either apple (half) or seedless green grapes (10) every night as recommended by his doctor. This gives him good sleep and his sugar level doesn't go below normal during night or early morning...try

Fruit is good for you, even if you have diabetes. The catch is that you have to eat it in moderate amounts-Usually equivalent to a half cup per serving. Also you must follow your carb diet (a serving of fruit counts for one carb serving) and not eat too many.
Fresh and frozen fruit is always best. Canned fruit is often stored in corn syrup (sugar) and a serving of it often counts for more than one serving. Avoid canned fruit unless it is canned in 100 percent fruit juice. This will be listed on the can itself.

Diabetics can potentially eat anything they want to. The key is to test your blood sugar to find out how each food affects it. Any particular food might raise one diabetic's blood sugar significantly, but have very little effect on another diabetic's blood sugar.

The general rule of thumb is to stay away from fruits that have sugar. Since diabetics lack the insulin to process sugar in their bodies, sugar should be avoided. Stick the sugar-free varieties of fruits, like bananas. Also, a high intake of corn helps to allow an occasional sugar fruit.
