When one friend of mine turned 50 his wife threw a surprise party and it all with black streamers, fake tomb stones and such. The "your so old now, you have one foot in the grave" kind of thing. And his personality sounds like what you described above. I guess the party shops have all sorts of stuff like this now. My friend thought it was hilarious and really enjoyed himself.
