My friend just had a ct scan and now he needs to have a catherization done. I thought ct scan could tell you anything a catherization would.

Tell your friend to get the Heart Cath ASAP! All my tests came back almost normal but my cardiologist decided to go ahead and do the Cath. Thank God. I had 80% blockage in my right coronary artery that had not shown up on any other tests! Stent was placed and I am fine! By the way, the only thing that hurts about a heart cath is the IV in your arm.....

The heart cath is definitive and angioplasty/stent can be performed during it. A coronary CT is a tool and is probably not as definitive or accurate as the cath.
