There are a lot of soy products (e.g. Boca Burgers) that can replace meat and dairy products. I'd suggest trying several different products to see what you like best. Stores like Whole Foods, and even general grocery stores carry organic products that are healthy and vegetarian.

Hi there,
The items you mentioned above contain mainly protein which the body needs, but are animal-based. To substitute them healthily, take more lentils, long beans, dark leafy green veg, moderate amount of preferably unsalted nuts. You ought to consume soy products too as your main source of plant protein. Such food items need not be restricted to tofu, but can be in the form of soya milk (now they have choco, vanilla, coffee flavoured ones, I believe), soy cheese, soy flour to bake cakes, soy based spreads on bread. For better protein absorption, combine some leafy veg together with soy products in a meal, and better yet, take a fruit before a meal as vitamin C enhance the absorption of iron too when eaten at the same meal.
Whole grain cereal with soy milk is a fantastic combination for you to gain protein as well as fortified B vitamins. Vegans usually do not have enough B12 vitamin unless they consciously consume them. Supplements of herbal or natural origin is also a good idea, anyway, non-vegetarians take loads of vitamin supplements too.
I live in Singapore, an Asian country, so I guess tofu and soy products are more readily available. But from what I heard, tofu is emerging as a popular healthfood in the West too. There are even soy cheese cakes, soy mutton, veg lasagne, unsalted organic soy chips etc etc in larger supermarkets. Just go look around, and I'm sure you can find alot of options!

people who claim you "need meat" to live are flat out stupid. research the topic before casting some usless input...being vegetarian or vegan for that matter is fine for most healthy people.
"Nothing will benefit human health and increase the
chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the
evolution to a vegetarian diet"
that is a quote from einstein.

I'd check with a doctor to find out food you need to eat.
Make sure you're getting enough protein in your diet. (Nuts and beans.)

You need to eat all of your different kinds of vegetables and fruits. Drink water after you eat. Your food will digest faster into your stomach. You need to eat a little meat sometimes. You can't live without it!!!
