Thrush is the same as a Yeast Infection. Mostly we hear of babies getting thrush but adults can get it too. I had the flu last month and the dr said I got it cause I slept with cough drops in my mouth. I switched to sugar free cough drops and used a prescription of Diflucan and I havn't had anymore problems.

This is not uncommon, and will respond to the same treatment as vaginal candidiasis (see my page, question 'Yellow Discharge').

If you have it in your oesophagus, chances are, your entire digestive tract is affected. Are you having violent diarhhoea? You will, if you let this go.

'Thrush' is a fungal infection. It thrives on sugars. It can be precipitated by stress. The holidays are a GREAT time for thrush (aka 'candidiasis', aka 'monilia', aka 'yeast-infection'). Too many sweets, too much stress, and not enough moderation.

HOW TO TREAT:

Go the doc, and get prescription for TWO doses of fluoconazole.

Go the market, and buy huge quantities of UNSWEETENED yoghurt -- no fruit, no fluff -- Biopot is a good brand. Be certain it contains acidophilus, bifidus, and similar bacteria. These bacteria eat the fungus.

Use sugar-substitute, if you must sweeten things.

Sugar-free jelly is also a good thing to eat. It helps with the diarhhoea.

You need to keep your mouth and digestive tract as clean as possible. Do NOT use anti-bacterials -- this is one case where you WANT the bacteria to grow back. Drink absurd quantities of water, green tea, and water with as much vinegar as you can stand (lemon-juice will do -- add saccharin). Also salt-water, warm.

You should probably take enemas (sorry), of vinegar-water, very strong green tea.

Eat unsweetened bran, with your yoghurt, to both push the thrush through your digestive tract, and restore the balance of bacteria in your intestine.

Everyone has candida in his/her body. Have you been on antibiotics?

Oh, REFRAIN FROM ANY/ALL SEX until you have the all-clear from your doc.

Best of luck. Stop this. It gets REALLY nasty if left untreated.

If you are taking steroids in any form , like an inhaler it would cause thrush. If this is the case take Daktarin its an oral gel that the doctor gives me, also try taking Actimel once a day.

you either didnt wash your hands properly or you got it through oral sex. men and women can both get thrush and it can also present as oral thrush if you come into contact with it. buy some natural "live" yogurt and eat plenty of it, add jam if you dont like it. it will help and get yourself and your partner if you have one treated to avoid the ping pong effect.

Are you sure it's thrush, and not a swallow?

Thrush is a bird. Maybe you opened your mouth too wide.

My daughter had that on the inside of her mouth when she was young. I was told it was caused by germs.
