Because the stuff is addictive and the urge to go back is strong.
I've been clean for five years but the urge is there every day. I am in consistent danger of starting up again. I like smelling nice, looking nice, and the clean air around me, but the urge makes me want to give all that up.
It's a daily battle. For some people, the battle is more than they can handle.

Cause they get use to it and when they try to stop they have some pain because it's like getting off of drugs for them...Your body and brain gets so use to you smokeing that when it's without it goes nuts...

Because of the nicotine in the cigarette. Nicotine is a very addictive substance causing quitting to be extrememly hard but not impossible.

because they still really want to smoke. It is something they desire and know it can be harmful. Sorta like fighting good and evil.

It give you a feeling of security, well being, and quick mental alertness.
Thats why its addictive, people long for that feeling.

I QUIT 13 TIMES AND ALWAYS WENT BACK - THEN ONE DAY I DECIDED I NO LONGER WANTED TO SMOKE AND THAT WAS 2 YEARS AGO...............IT WORKED.............JUST MAKE A DECISION
