I saw someone that I loved very much die of pulmonary failure and it was from smoking heavily. She couldn't breathe very well for a long long time but it didn't stop her smoking as a matter of fact she wanted a smoke 2 hours before her death. It's a cruel and painful death and she was only 69.

Don't think of quitting smoking as giving up something........think of it as not needing it and becoming a non smoker. Be happy about it and don't get the patches or gum etc you are only transferring the poison intake into something else. Think of becoming a non smoker and having a nice breath and smelling things better and tasting the food you eat. Think of the benefits you are doing for yourself.

Cold turkey isn't as hard as you think. The first few days are the hardest once you are over that you will succeed because you are doing yourself a huge favour. Your lungs may not get better but they won't get any worse.

There is a book called" How to stop smoking the easy way" by Allen Carr.
I had no intension of giving up smoking but my husband had been nagging me and bought me this book and asked me to read it. I honestly can tell you that I had stopped by the time I finished the book. Its been 7 months now and I feel good. Its worth a try........the best of luck ......pity we weren't taught the evils of smoking before we became addicted.

My mom was diagnosed with emphazema and was a very heavy smoker for 30 years. She tried EVERYTHING to help her quit. What ended up working for her were these little puffer things called nicatrol inhalers. They give you the nicotine that you crave without all the bad chemicals and of course the smoke. Best Wishes on your health.

I feel your pain. I've had asthma for 14 years now and have seen several doctors. The truth is, there is no known cure for asthma at the moment. But the symptoms can be prevented. It really depends on what causes your brother's asthma. Mine is usually dust and hot weather. But I think the universal method is using the control inhaler.

I cured my Asthma the natural way?

My uncle smoked for longer than you. He just got over lung and brain cancer. He was lucky that they found it soon, but he still went through hell with his surgeries and chemo. He hasnt smoked since and its been a few months now. Good for him!!!! I think that If I was diagnosed with what you have, it would be easier to quit. Keep trying, and it'll eventually work.

Step 1

You have to have the desire to quit, w/o this stage the rest won't work

My key help was the politics were gonna add on another $1 per pack for them to spend, They added $3.00 per pack in less than 10 years

Wellbutrin/Zyban. Worked for me. I lost over 20 lbs. Had the energy of an eight year old. Felt amazing! Your daughter needs you around for a long time. What happens when you are gone?

Listen, If the imminent threat of death doesn't make you want to quit we can't help you. First and foremost YOU must WANT to quit for YOURSELF. Quitting starts in your mind. I quit 20 years ago, not because it was good for my health, not for my children, not for my husband. We bought our first house and I didn't want to stink it up. That is what made ME want to quit. You have to find out what will make you WANT to quit. Once you get there quitting won't seem as hard. Maybe once you start thinking about who is going to be around to care for your daughter when you die?

Dont Stop!!! Whats the point if your lungs are already in bad shape, you will make it worse if you quit, because your body craves it to much now.
