I'm a Vegan because I support animal rights, good health, environmental protection, and I prefer the taste of non-animal food.

well, i am vegetarian for almost 2/3 of the year, lol! I know this may sound strange but it is for religious reasons, i am coptic orthodox and we have that many fasts throughout the year in which we have to abstain from food for a certain amount of time then eat vegetarian stuff (not even milk or eggs are allowed).
So, we fast (be vegetarian) as an excercise for the will and as a time for prayer.
In some of these fasts, however, eating fish is allowed (I don't know why). I wonder if any vegetarian people do eat fish.

Well when I was 13 I had been thinking about becoming a vegetarian. What really made me become one was these two reasons: I was eating a hamburger and my sister kept making "moooo" noises. Then I had some type of chicken sandwich from McDonalds and I bit into a tissue from the chicken. I threw down the chicken sandwich and said "That's it I'm becoming a vegetarian". Now at first my reason for becoming one was because of what they put in it. Then slowly over time I just realized how cruel it was to eat animals. I treat all animals equally and so to me if I ate a burger it would be like eating my pet dog. Just be warned that a lot of people out there are going to judge you. Good luck though :)

I became a vegetarian when I was very young (10 yrs.) because I didn't like the idea of killing and eating animals. As I've gotten older i stumble on more and more reasons why that was a good decision (hence the video on the first post). My vegetarianism over the years has changed to veganism is well. Really I do it because of the suffering of the animals. However, with more experience that has come to include that it is also healthier and in many cases cheaper.

I am a vegetarian because I feel that it was the right thing to do. it is hard at first but it will get better. I always hated the fact of taking an innocent life for my satisfaction. I prefer non meat dishes they taste better. I love animals. Good luck

We'll my mom is semi-vegetarian, being she eats chicken and fish..And i have lived with her for several years so I was the same way. This past year, I've been going through alot of medical illnesses so i've decided to give up all meat completely. This will definitely be a huge change for me as I am a very picky eater. But so far it has been going well I like the new change in my life. I'm not for/against animal rights. I just don't like the look of meat anymore. It really grosses me out.

Simple I don't like the sight of blood and meat tastes gross to me. Also if you eat meat it is dead so that means death so if one eats meat they are eating death. Also I don't care for taste of meat. It's gross to me! I however stopped eating meat cause of the cost!. It's cheaper being a vegetarian.. if you do it properly and wisely! Remember You are what You eat.. if You eat meat You are eating death so you are death. Vegetables still live after picked... when a vegetable dies that's when it's not edible anymore.. in other words spoiled! I'm also healthier being a vegetarian so that's why I remain being a vegetarian!

Strictly for health reasons, mainly to lose weight (which I did) and to keep the weight off (which I have for 2 years now) 45lbs lost in 7 months and kept off for 2 years by being a vegetarain. 104lbs at 5 foot tall and in perfect health!

I can pass up on that burger and steak any day to stay this way!

We had to talk to someone we didn't know as an exercise in school. I talked to a girl who didn't have many friends and she showed me drawings of bunnies, so I asked her if she had any pets. She said she had pet cows that she named and ate and the only one she had left was a baby that she wasn't allowed to eat yet. It made the connection in my head and the next day I went vegetarian.

I am a vegan because im a strong believer in AHIMSA- RESPECT for all form of life. It all started over 11 years ago when a saw a clip showing nothing but the unedited scences from the slaughterhouse. My first reaction was to turn away but i FORCED myself to watch it. I havent touched carcass ever since... I also don't eat eggs cause i don't want to be guitlty of consuming the product of hens OVULATIONS/ EMBRYOS. And when it comes to milk- it was 'designed' by Mother Nature to feed the newborns. Humans are the only animals who not only consume it after infancy but also SUCK IT OUT of other species for their own use- ever wondered why mothers stop lactating few years after giving birth? And fact that milk-digesting enzymes disappear in many humans round the age of 3 is just an 'irrelevant' factor- which causes allergies, indigestion etc in many people.
To sum up- if you think you would be capable of KILLING an innocent being for the sake of stuffing your face- it's up to you and your conscience. I would NEVER pay the MASS MURDERERS and pretend that the blood is not on my hands.

I do not feel it is right to kill an animal just because it is tasty. I do not think it is morally right to do that.
Also my religion does not encourage to be a non vegetarian.
