My Aunt has a fourteen/fiffteen year old Cockatoo, I think it's a sulfer-crested. Anyway, sometimes, I'll walk past her cage, or my father will and she will lunge at us for no reason, and we've all been attacked on more than one occasion.
Also, she'll scream, so it can be heard blocks away, and refuse to stop.

Is there anything I can do?

I'm a girl...and she attacks me, so that can't be it.

Well, Maybe she just loves to hate us...

But she'll play with me, so she'll be friendly and stuff, but then she'll scream and sometimes try to attack me. (And sometimes fall to the bottom of her cage in the process.)

What is new around the bird is there any routines that include the bird changed, is it getting enough food and water. Cockatoos can noise at different times of the day and depending if they can hear other birds like them. Our cockatoo screams when large dogs come into the yard or if something is too close to his cage that he doesn't like. hope this helps.

I agree with RM. Birds are flock animals, and must accept you as a trustworthy member. Being gentle, soft-voiced, and moving slowly while around her will increase the likelihood that she will accept you. Talk to her with only one side of your face showing; birds perceive you to be a predator, as predators have two eyes in front; prey has eyes on either side of the head.
I have a lesser sulphur-crested cockatoo, and he gets quite moody. He'll be really sweet for hours, then get nasty with the blink of an eye.
I'm fortunate that the only time mine squawks is when he is hungry, thirsty, or lonely. If he does it at any other time, I leave the room and have no voice or eye contact with him; I have no reaction to his behavior. Once your bird has stopped for at least 2 minutes, tell her calmly that you don't like it when she's too noisy, then praise her for being quiet. Believe me, she will remember what she was up to! Petting her will help reinforce the desired behavior.

simply the cockatoo thinks your aunt is her possession and friend. she doesn't like other ppl in her space (yes birds are territorial too). birds can become jealous too. simply keep out of the bird's way. when she screams, she is voicing her opinion and telling you to clear off.

It's simple. Birds shouldn't be caged.
I would be upset too. Wouldn't you??
