You might have a lung condition.
No cough medication can cure that; only antibiotics.

Don't risk your life - see a doctor.

That depends on if you have other symptoms and what the cause of your cough is. Do you have a fever above 101? Do you have any sinus symptoms? Do you smoke? How long have you had the cough.

It can be many things with out a physical exam. Influenza (if you answered yes to the fever), bacterial pneumonia, bronchitis, or just a cold.

My suggestion to you because you have done the right thing and used over the counter medications is to go to the Dr. You may need antibiotics.

Otherwise, try making the room you sleep in cooler at night, use a humidifier to add moisture to the air. Keep taking the medications you are using. Take hot showers.

But seriously, go in and be seen by a Dr. if you are not getting better or develop a fever.

I would certainly consider another doctor. It could be a sinus infection. It is some kind of infection because you have a temp.Z pacs are good but sometimes it takes a stronger antibiotic to clear some things up. If you have COPD it would definitely take a stronger antibiotic and some prednisone. I have copd in advanced stage. I do have a problem with cough at night. Lately I have tried an old wives tale treatment that has been working for me. I rub Vicks vapo rub on the bottom of my feet and put on a pair of socks when I go to bed. I wont say it works for everyone but it does for me. You may have to ask the doc for a stronger antibiotic. They may not find anything on tests but if you are obviously ill then he should be willing to try something else. you cant go on that way.

If you are producing mucous, in a mug of boiling water, put in the juice of 1 lemon (and then slice it and add the lemon slices) and add a teaspoon of honey. And a shot of jack daniels if you are of legal drinking age :)

You can take a cough suppresant at night to help you sleep, but if you are coughing up mucous, you need to get it out, it will get worse if you keep taking a cough suppressant. If it lasts for more than a couple of days, go to a doctor to rule out a bacterial infection or something worse.

We've used Hyland's Cough Syrup with Honey to help stimulate our bodies to heal themselves. It is available through Amazon cheaper than anyplace else.

You might try going to the dr for a prescription cough syrup.

The person before me is right there are bacterial infections and viral infections one of those cannot be treated with an antibiotics. The only person who can tell you is a doctor at this point. You can pay attention to your symptoms so if it happens again you could make the descision on your own.

Maybe try gargling with salt water. I know that helps with a sore throat. Maybe it'll calm your cough too. If this persists for more than a few days, it's time to see a doctor.

Take a tablespoonful of honey and sprinkle a pinch (slightly more than a pinch actually) of black pepper powder on it. Use this atleast three times a day specially before going to bed. It work wonders.

Its always good to consult a doctor.

Go to the drugstore or health food store and buy a tea that has echinacea, golden seal, and a natural cough suppressant in it. There are a couple of brands, one is by SleepyTime.

Do you smoke???
