salmon, snapper, yellowtail, flounder, halibut and clam are all mild tasting fish.

There is a whole world of "sushi" to explore. Did you know that in Japan "sushi" actually refers to the rice and not what is on it. Tuna is my favorite, followed by salmon. Another little tidbit about eating sushi is that you are supposed to start with the lighter leaner fish and work up to the darker fattier fish. Most sushi places have a "platter" that you can order with all types of sushi. Try one of those sometime. Octopus is best when killed fresh at the sushi bar. If it is old then it becomes chewy. I have had really good octopus and bad. Good luck and enjoy.

If you don't like "taco" octopus then stay away from squid. Yellow-tail, mackerel, crab, salmon and cooked eel would be good choices. Sea urchin, abalone and others will probably be a little too exotic for you now. Later try some roe (fish eggs). Flying fish eggs, the tiny bright orange ones are good. The salmon eggs, bigger red or orange ones are good too but may take time getting use to the texture.

In eastern delicacies, sushi (??, ?, ?, sushi?) is vinegared rice, in many circumstances crowned with different elements, which incorporates fish, quite some meats, and vegetables. outdoors of Japan, sushi is sometimes misunderstood to point the raw fish itself, or maybe any clean raw-seafood dishes. In Japan, sliced raw fish on my own is termed sashimi and is different from sushi, as sashimi is the raw fish element, not the rice element. The note sushi itself comes from an archaic grammatical kind of a note that's not utilized in different contexts; actually, sushi ability "that's bitter." there are quite some sorts of sushi: sushi served rolled interior nori (dried and pressed layer sheets of seaweed or alga) called makizushi (??) or rolls; sushi made with toppings laid with hand-shaped clumps of rice called nigirizushi (???); toppings crammed right into a small pouch of fried tofu called inarizushi; and toppings served scattered over a bowl of sushi rice called chirashi-zushi (???). My regularly occurring is Nigirizushi :)

It sounds like we have similar tastes in sushi. I don't care for the chewiness of tako (octopus) and I really love the tuna. I usually also steer clear of eel because it had a similar texture to the tako but not quite as extreme. I really like ebi (prawn), salmon, and crab. Try spicy tuna roll if they have one. I think you'll enjoy it.

All of my favorites are different tunas...
Abaco is hard to find, but melts like butter in your mouth!
Yellowtail is also a standard fave.
I like the rolls too, our local restaurant has amazing creative rolls.
You might want to try Unagi, which is broiled eel.
Oh man... now I want some sushi!!
:-)
BTW... If you don't like octopus, don't try the squid, it's the same texture.

eel is surprisingly good. i like spicy rolls and also sesame rolls. I'm not a sushi expert either so I just keep experimenting. If I were you, I would get a couple of friends together and all go out for sushi. You all just order a bunch of different stuff and taste everything. Enjoy, sushi is awesome.

I think tuna is the best, and that most people who eat raw fish would agree.
