I would switch to a different cardiologist. Just because you are very young doesn't mean there can't be something wrong with you. Obviously there is because you are concerned. Find another and have them do tests. If you get worse go to the emergency room. Forget about the cost, there is not price on you living. You are worth too much.
You can also go to your urgent care clinic or local health clinic or department, those places are a lot cheaper and sometimes work on a sliding scale.
He may be blowing you off because you don't have insurance or because you are so young but you need to be reassured that you are okay. Worse case scenarios are you have a problem and you caught it so young or that there is nothing wrong and now you have a big bill. So it is very important that you get checked out. Look in the yellow pages for a cardiologist or call your local emergency room and ask who is a cardiologist that works well there.

I would certainly seek a second opinion. A Dr needs to be able to listen to patient concerns and questions, however busy. As for your health insurance, I don't know where you are from, but here in NY that would be a self pay, and most practices these days will negotiate Medicare rates, which are considerably lower than the costs billed to private health insurance companies. Try to see a Dr with a wider knowledge, your symptoms may not be cardiac related at all. Your description could fit several other criteria.

Yes you should definitely go for a second opinion if you are not satisfied with your current Cardiologist, go to a county clinic, they have to take you even if you don't have insurance. Talk to the MD who referred you to the Cardiologist. At 19 or any age these are signs and symptoms indicative of something abnormal going on and questions need to be answered! Good Luck!

Yeah a second opinion would be good. I would never take what a dr. says to heart. If you know something is wrong then seek out more help by other dr. til you find out what is going on. You are young and should not be having issues like that. Definitely get a second opinion and keep going to dr. after dr. if you have to, find out what is wrong.

Damn right you should seek a second opinion!
If you don't have insurance go to one of the
clinics associated with a reputable hospital
in your area. It's usually $60 or less. Don't
go to these private clinics though. The ones
that have several docs working there but have
no hospital affiliation.
Good luck & good health.
