HIV is the precursor to AIDS. HIV is humanimmunodeficiency virus. AIDS is AcquiredImmunoDeficiency virus.

HIV turns into AIDS ...

The deal is, science has learned to treat HIV just like any other virus. Take SUPER good care of your health, make sure you're in shape and eat well and HIV can be managed with drug therapy and good health and hygience before it turns into AIDS. It can even become dormant.

HIV doesn't turn into AIDS until your t-cell count is so low that you have almost no immune system left, at which point, even a cold can kill you.

No one dies from AIDS. AIDS destroys your immune system totally...which in turn, causes you to die from common illnesses that all healthy people can fight.

A person is said to be HIV positive if that person is infected with the virus HIV. The person may not be sick at all. A person is said to have AIDS if the person is infected with HIV and has certain signs and symptoms of the disease. In short, HIV is the virus, and AIDS is the disease that it causes.

Most literature makes a distinction between people who are infected with HIV but are still healthy, and those who have the virus and are sick with AIDS. This may lead readers to think that these are two different diseases, but this is not true. They are simply two different stages of the same disease. An infected person may seem very healthy at first. Without treatment, most infected people start to get sick a few years after first becoming infected.

Any person who has HIV, whether the person is sick with AIDS or not, should be under the care of a qualified physician. Now, more than ever, there are treatments that can delay the onset of the disease. The earlier one seeks treatment, the better one's chances are likely to be.

Any person who has HIV, whether the person is sick with AIDS or not, can pass the virus on to other people. This means you can get AIDS from a person who looks very healthy, if the person is infected with HIV and if you have sexual or blood contact with the person. Avoiding people who "look sick" is no guarantee.
P.S: I don't think that everyone has it!

HIV is the Human Immunodeficiency Virus. It attacks the immune system. No, not everybody carries it.

AIDS is Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome. AIDS is caused by HIV. However, most are phasing out this term in favor of "Advanced HIV Disease".

The progression of HIV infection to AIDS is not always inevitable. There are people who are termed "long term non-progressors". These are people who have had HIV for a very long time but exhibit no appreciable decrease in their immune function; even without taking medications.

Recently, the advancement of HIV infection to AIDS has been slowed dramtically by highly effective (and highly expensive) Anti-HIV medications.

According to the Centers for Disease Control (the CDC) there are specific criteria for an AIDS diagnosis. People who have had an HIV positive test result combined with a CD4+ count lower than 200 or CD4+ percentage less than 14 or an opportunistic infection (OI) have AIDS.

That is, a person with HIV and an opportunistic infection (any one of about 30 specific illnesses) is diagnosed with AIDS regardless of the CD4 count. Also, a person with HIV and fewer than 200 CD4 cells is considered to have AIDS even if the person never had an OI.

Once diagnosed with AIDS, the diagnosis never goes away. Even if one's CD4 count rises into the 700 range after being below 200, that person is still considered to have AIDS. Similarly, a person who no longer has an OI will still have a diagnosis of AIDS (or Advanced HIV Disease).

Finally, one's appearance is in no way an indication of whether or not one has AIDS. There are many people who have been diagnosed with AIDS who look perfectly healthy.

Abhinav presented you with an answer it quite is actual, yet i'm undecided if it grew to become into expressed in a clean adequate (non expert) language. I checked a number of your previous questions and it sort of feels you have various biology questions, so which you're a intense college student, and can be lacking some key data to make experience of the aforementioned anser. DNA is composed of four bases: adenine (A), cytosine (C), guanine (G) and thymine (T), and use deoxyribose. RNA despite the fact that, replaces thymine with uracyl (U), and deoxyribose with ribose, it quite is how you will tell them aside, the chemical composition is somewhat distinctive. DNA is in fact the grasp tips key; at the same time as the RNA is used to pass the tips. as a result, a DNA virus will upload new pointers to the DNA obtainable -- that tips would be approximately producing extra virus -- at the same time as a RNA retrovirus will sneak in on the time the DNA tips is decoded, this is going to upload its very own tips after the DNA is examine.
