The best indication would be to take your blood pressure! If you don't have a cuff, try going to Walgreens, or WalMart. They usually have free blood pressure machines.

High blood pressure can cause headaches and dizziness. A "normal" blood pressure would be 120/70. If you think you have high blood pressure, you should probably see your physician.

Excess salt, caffeine, decongestants and engergy drinks can all raise your blood pressure. Try cutting some of those out, if you are having a problem.

High blood pressure generally doesn't give any signs until you have a very high numbers (100/95 or greater). The most common signs are headache, dizziness chest pain. You must check your pressure 2 times a day. Remember it must be taken at the same time. You must be rested (not exercise). You should go to a hospital and take your pressure. Keep a record of your blood pressure (in a chart) Day Hour Blood pressure PS you can also do it yourself but following the steps.

Well, have you ever heard the saying that high blood pressure is the "silent" killer?

Some people experience a full spectrum of symptoms, while others experience none at all.

Symptoms may include, but are not limited to:

Headache
Blurred vision
Spots before eyes
The sound of rushing in the inner ear
Dizziness
Tiredness
Dry mouth
Extreme thirst

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, you should consult your doctor, right away. But, just to be safe, go and have a blood pressure screening. This is the only way to tell if your blood pressure is elevated.

Good Luck!

High blood pressure is often called a silent killer as there usually are not symptoms. Most high blood pressure is diagnosed when they check your BP in the docs office. If you think you may have it then buy a blood pressure device and check it daily at the same time for a week and then see your doc if it remains elevated. I am a nurse and never suspected I had Hypertension until it was discovered in the docs office. I had no symptoms and my blood pressure had always been on the low side of normal even with my yearly physical exams so it can pop up at any time.

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

There are no signs, that is why its called the silent killer. Sometimes the first sign of hypertension is a stroke. There are times when a bad headache at the back of the head can signify hypertension. Most people with high blood pressure feel perfectly normal. Check it out at mayoclinic.com.
