Occasionally I have experienced chest pains that felt like a squeezing on my heart, but they were brief and not accompanied by anything else. However, yesterday I started having chest pains again and they just came and went all day. I also was having some difficulty taking breaths and would find myself trying to take a deep breath very often. It worsened when I went to lay down last night, so I just sat up all night. Today the symptoms are still bothersome and accompanied by an ache in the center of my chest and upward. I’m female and 20 years old, and my mother’s side has a history of heart related health issues. If anyone could shed some light on what I could do for this, it would be much appreciated. Also, I just went off of my parent’s health insurance… so I would like to avoid needlessly going to the hospital/doctor if at all possible. Thank you in advance! :)

3 words that will save your life "doctor or hospital, now!"......ok that was 4 but still, DO IT NOW!!!!!!! If you are worried about the bills for not having insurance, dont worry, the hospital cant turn you down and they will allow you to make monthly payments for what ever is convienent to you.

Go to the ER or your doctor and get checked out. You have symptoms that should be checked, especially since there is a history of heart disease in your family. Don't let lack of insurance stop you. There are payment plans and the hospital is not going broke if you can't pay. Your life is more important. Another choice could be an after hours clinic, or call your local health department to make an appointment with a doctor there. But get checked. Good luck.

I'm sorry that you do not have insurance, but at this point the main thing is to go to a Hospital and make sure that everything is OK. Hospital has to accept payments if you don't have all the money to pay. Besides you have to go to the Emergency Room with chest pain, and most likely they take care of you as soon as you walk in without further delay or information.
Reading your question everybody will be sorry for you but nobody will be able to help

Well, pretty obviously you need to see a doctor about this. My guess as to most likley scenario - mitral valve prolapse - very common in women.

Don't ignore it, go see a doctor first chance you get

Do you drink a lot of caffiene? My heart used to flutter, until I stopped drinking it. Other than that, the only suggestion I have is to see a doctor if it doesn't quit soon.

Try to rule out the more common causes such as acid reflux, hiatal hernia and indigestion.

It is probably your lungs. Have you recently had a cold? Are you running a low-grade fever? You should see a doctor if it does not get better.
