Hi
British food culture has changed hugely over the past few years due to a whole variety of factors - immigration has brought a whole variety of foods and cooking techniques from around the world, and increasing prosperity and interest in food have made high quality foods much more available to the everyday punter.
This has resulted in making answering your question very difficult - in the "bad old days" you might have been expected to bring a cheddar and, if feeling a little racy, a stilton. More recently, people with a love of cheese have been enjoying the finest bries, camemberts, reblochons, vacherins, mozzarellas and other cheeses from around the world.
Even more recently high-quality british cheesemaking has been undergoing something of a renaissance, with very good (and high-priced) cheeses being made in the UK which can challenge the best of France, Italy, Spain and other cheese-producing countries. If you are able to get hold of some of these then these would be the perfect gift - in practice though I think this is only likely if you live in London (try La Fromagerie in Marylebone or Neals Yards Cheese Shop) or near a particular producer.
Of course if you are from a country which produces its own cheeses - especially a country which people often don't think of as producing high-quality cheese - then you might want to bring some of that.
And of course it depends on the people - some people only like Cheddar and Stilton, others like "anything at all as long as it's french" - you'll know your hosts better than me but good luck and enjoy the dinner party.

Actually England makes many many cheeses tradtionally; more than any other place in Europe. They have county and regional cheeses that are exceptional. Cheddar and Stilton are the old favourites, but so are Wensleydale, Gloucester, and Double Gloucester, Leicester, and Farmer's cheeses. Pick a county, you can find a cheese from there.

While taking them something they are familiar is a nice gesture, they may actually enjoy something new and different for a change. Introduce them to something YOU really enjoy, tell them why you do -- and see if you can share a good experience together. It's more about the company than the cheese!

right this is the way you be triumphant at your party. Take a kit of cream cheese and 6oz (0.5 a small kit) of Brie cheese. Mash all of it inclusive of a fork. Zest a lemon and chop it up. upload it to the cheese. upload 2 tablespoons of raspberry jam (strawberry will do exactly as properly). blend all of it up with your palms and form it right into a ball. Chop us some nuts (pecans, almonds, walnuts, etc) and roll the ball in the nuts. examine to make certain you could carry nuts to college, first. as quickly as you get to college, push the ball down right into a patty and microwave it till it gets heat (no longer warm, cuz it will soften and run throughout). Serve with toast factors.
