Advantages:
healthier, stronger, not seeing blood when preparing food one is going to cook!
Cheaper when you make own vegetarian foods rather than the prepared ones.
Animals are not killed for food vegetarians eat
So animals lifes' are saved!
Disadvantages: Telling people B-12 is in more things that just meat products. Having to tell people the Chicken is a meat and so is fish.
having to explain to meat eaters why one is vegetarian. Having to explain milk and cheese
and eggs don't require an animal to be killed.
Having to explain that one that eats meat is actually eating death. having to explain to meat eaters that proteins are in more than things than just meat. Having to pass by the meat aisles in Grocery stores.. having to explain to some restaurants that I don't want any meat in my salad! Having to tell meat eaters there's alot more vegetarian foods than just salads! I could go on with more disadvantages.
I think the advantages are more important
and outweigh the disadvantages... the disadvantages are mostly stupidity and pickiness of meat eaters!

Americans have this misconception about being a vegetarian. Like most Americans vegetarians do things to extreme. They have a hard time understanding that a vegetarian diet is not easy to maintain. They think that if they eat salad all the time that they will be OK. That Soy is a "complete" protein. Its not, that is just the fact. In order to be a good vegetarian you have to know how to mix your vegis in order to establish complete proteins. Every vegetarian I have ever talked to argues this point and NEVER looks at the fact..
Humans are omnivores, plan and simple. The Chinese who are very big vegi eaters and consume more vegis then most country's even know that they have to add a little meat to the diet to make it complete.
Do Americans eat more meat then they should? yes. Is being an uninformed vegan healthier, no. Balance is what it takes, a balanced diet with a variety of ALL food groups.
A diet with no protein will cause your body to auto-digest, to consume it self to get the protein it needs to maintain brain function. Just because you are eating tofu and soy milk does not mean you are getting a RDA of complete proteins.

An Elephant is also a ruminants and can synthesize the proteins it needs along with other nutrients, humans can't do that, so to compare humans to other animals, especially quadrupeds is not a viable comparison

The only disadvantage is that you have to find alternate ways to get protein. However, that can easily be done with higher intakes of beans, legumes, soy and dairy products. Well, a vegetarian lifestyle can also be a little more expensive, but if you really pay attention to what you are doing, you can do it without spending any extra.

The advantages : You are not putting the hormones, fat, and cholesterol into your body. You are also saving the lives of animals.

Personally, I think that the best thing about being a vegetarian is having a low fat diet. The bad thing is getting all the nutrition you need. Getting protein is the hardest for me.

Disadavantges:
-You have to do alot of research on places that have veggie friendly food.
