No, if you remove ALL fats and oils from your diet, you will die, they are NEEDED, just not in such large amts. as people eat them. They are high in cals, and are a good energy food, just eat, fruits, veggies, and grains in proportion, fats/oils are least needed out of the food groups but, still needed. Lard or animals are(saturated fat) BAD in huge amounts! but a tiny bit is needed.

UNSATURATED FATS: Olive oil, safflower, etc.--Plants cannot have fat, so they are referred to as "OILS" Olive oil, is very good for you, it's very high in cals though, so use sparingly, Animal fats (Saturated fats) cling to your arteries, Plant oils will NOT, remember that "HYDROGENATED OILS" (Crisco shortening) can be bad too even though they are "UNSATURATED FATS" to begin with, when you add "Hydrogen" (Hydrogenated Cotton seed oil, etc.) you are "SATURATING" the plant oil into a "saturated fat", thats why it is best to avoid them IN LARGE AMOUNTS !
