There is currently no attainable cure for diabetes, How much you can improve the situation is dependent on whether you are a Type 1 (insulin dependent diabetic), or a Type2.

If you are type one, you will need daily insulin to live, but you can live a normal life. You will need to follow a diet all your life, but this will along with insulin help keep your blood sugar close to normal.

If you are a type 2 and overweight, see a doctor get an insulin/andor pill routine, and ask him to help you with weight loss safely. Many Type 2's can thought diet and exercise maintain normal sugar levels without insulin or pills.

You NEED a Doctor to guide you. You should not try to manage diabetes on your own. It could kill you to do so.

diabetics are caused by a pancreas not working become dormant. The reason for this is due to over sugaring the body.I know this is true because I had this problem .You must first leave all white flower products alone. Eat Cinnamon.Take fish oil with omega 3.Eat only vegetables and salads.Eat only natural whole wheat products. You have to exercise every day if it is no more than a vigorous walk around the block.Once you start this program you will have energy that you have never had before. Monitor sugar levels in blood at least 4 times a day and record. you will be amazed at what you can do.by discarding sweet sugar foods and eating sugar free foods you are telling the pancreas to produce insulin for you .it will take several weeks to see good results but i assure you your doctor will be amazed also. This is what doctors don`t want you to know.If everyone did this they would be out of business

Diet is frequently the cause of diabetes. Changing your diet to whole grains (high-complex-carbohydrates) low-fat, high-fiber diet. With plenty of raw fresh fruit and vegetables, fresh juices and herb teas will be a good start. Read labels. Do not use refined products and especially look for any sugars of any kind that are added. Do not drink soda pops of any kind.

The above reduces the need for insulin and also lowers the level of fats in the flood. Fiber helps to reduce blood sugar surges. For snacks, eat oat or rice bran crackers with nut butter or cheese. Legumes, root vegetables, and whole grains are excellent for fiber.

The best sweeteners to use are Stevia and Xylitol. This is because they do not spike your blood sugar. Recent research confirms that Splenda is dangerous to your health. Stevia and Xylitol are available in health food stores.

Cinnamon can be added to teas, smoothies, cereals, etc. and has been shown to balance ones blood sugar.

Frequent small meals help to stabilize ones blood sugar.

Be sure to see a Doctor and be tested for the type of diabetes that you might have.

There is no cure for diabetes you can only control it. When your doctor diagnosed you did he say a medication was necessary at this time or maybe a diet change? You can contact the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org and request that information be sent to you so that you can better understand your diagnosis.

Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by high blood sugar (glucose) levels, which result from defects in insulin secretion, or action, or both. Diabetes mellitus, commonly referred to as diabetes (as it will be in this article) was first identified as a disease associated with “sweet urine," and excessive muscle loss in the ancient world. Elevated levels of blood glucose (hyperglycemia) lead to spillage of glucose into the urine, hence the term sweet urine. Normally, blood glucose levels are tightly controlled by insulin, a hormone produced by the pancreas. Insulin lowers the blood glucose level. When the blood glucose elevates (for example, after eating food), insulin is released from the pancreas to normalize the glucose level. In patients with diabetes, the absence or insufficient production of insulin causes hyperglycemia. Diabetes is a chronic medical condition, meaning that although it can be controlled, it lasts a lifetime

The major goal in treating diabetes is controlling elevated blood sugars (glucose) without causing abnormally low levels of blood sugar. Type 1 diabetes is treated with insulin, exercise, and a diabetic diet. Type 2 diabetes is first treated with weight reduction, a diabetic diet, and exercise. When these measures fail to control the elevated blood sugars, oral medications are used. If oral medications are still insufficient, insulin medications are considered.

Adherence to a diabetic diet is an important aspect of controlling elevated blood sugar in patients with diabetes. The American Diabetes Association (ADA) has provided guidelines for a diabetic diet. The ADA diet is a balanced, nutritious diet that is low in fat, cholesterol, and simple sugars. The total daily calories are evenly divided into three meals. In the past two years, the ADA has lifted the absolute ban on simple sugars. Small amounts of simple sugars are allowed when consumed with a complex meal. For more, please read the Diabetic Diet article.

Weight reduction and exercise are important treatments of diabetes. Weight reduction and exercise increase the body's sensitivity to insulin, thus helping to control blood sugar elevations. For more, please read the Weight Loss and Fitness articles.
