You need your blood sugar monitored daily at different times for to come up with an average blood sugar level to make a proper determination for you.

Normal Blood Sugar Levels

A normal blood sugar reading is 70-120. Like blood pressure monitoring, one high or low reading does not indicate a serious condition. The key is to monitor for 10-14 days. If a pattern exists then seek professional advice. When seeking a diagnosis this information will be helpful for your doctor.

At 81 you are in the lower normal range for that particular blood level sugar check . You may have Low Blood Sugar (Hypoglycemia). Symtoms I've found were as follows
Anxiety, Depression, Mood Swings,Irritability, Confusion, Nervousness,Black Outs, Weight Gain, Tiredness?

Hypoglycaemia is linked to the development of Type 2 diabetes.

Type 2 diabetes occurs when the pancreas simply can't produce enough insulin anymore. Extended pressure on the pancreas through hypoglycaemia's fluctuating blood sugar levels can cause permanent damage and increase your risk of developing diabetes.

Check the link below for more detailed information , Good luck to you with this .

One blood test alone doesn't rule out diabetes. It takes several, including fasting blood sugar measurements, 2 hour post-prandial (after eating) blood sugar levels, or even a glucose tolerance test. There is an endocrine abnormality (having something to do with aldosterone imbalance), as mentioned above. There is also a rare condition called diabetes insipidus, caused by a tumor on the pituitary gland (in the brain--well, not IN the brain, like you're thinking of, a brain tumor, but NEXT TO the brain, in the pituitary gland.) This causes severe thirst, and subsequent increase in urination. However, the blood sugar and urine sugar measurements are normal. I'd go see an endocrinologist, and make sure that he tests you for diabetes insipidus (he probably won't think of it at first). That test usually consists of a CT or MRI if the brain; not a big deal. If it is DI, it is usually easily cured by a surgery to the pituitary gland (which goes through the nasal cavity--no scars).
Anyway, see an endocrinologist. I'd bet on diabetes insipidus; let me know if I'm right.

Your blood sugar is within the normal range, so it is less likely to be diabetes *mellitus* (though that still has to be confirmed by a fasting blood test or even oral glucose tolerance test), which is what most people think of in relation to diabetes. However feeling thirsty and peeing a lot could also be a sign of diabetes *insipidus* (DI) (see website), especially if you prefer *cold water* - your blood and urine sugar will be normal but your electrolytes in the blood are abnormal, for instance very high sodium.

The doctor may need to do further tests if it is DI, to look for any underlying kidney or brain disease.

It does sound like you could be diabetic. One blood test really isn't enough to disprove it. I'd get one of those glucose test machines (you may have to have a perscription) and check it at different times of the day for several weeks and compare the results.

It's diabetes. A normal blood sugar doesn't rule out diabetes if you hadn't had anything to eat for several hours.

sure sounds like diabetes, ask for a glucose tolerance test. the bllod sugar check is a good tool but doesn't always tell the tale.

are you on any meds? you can get diabetes insipidus from some meds. having to pee all the time and being thirsty sounds like diabetes insipidus. you should be checked for the hormone ADH.

Some people cannot control their bladder all of the time. and yuo could also have the beganing of diabetes or you could have a kidney problem.

If you are really thursday all of the time you may have a mineral or vitimin shortage causing it. Something you kidneys are detecting.

Sounds a lot like diabetes but if this is ruled out check for hypoglycemia.
