That is completely a false statement. Nitro relieves chest pain but relaxing (vasodilation) the vessel walls allowing more oxygen to get to the heart muscle. As chest pain is caused by lack of oxygen to the heart muscle. One of the MOST common side effects of Nitro is a headache and hypotension (low blood pressure). There is probably more of a chance that the pain is not cardiac related if the chest pain does not go away with nitro.

Nitro commenly causes headaches whether or not the initial pain is from your heart. So forget about whether or not it gives you a headache as an indication of whether or not it's your heart.
If nitro stops the chest pain then it is heart related. If the nitro doesn't work, then the pain is probably not heart related.
You should check with your doctor.

I am an critical care nurse and I can say this:
Yes, nitro gives headaches...to almost anyone that takes it (especially in IV form when in the hospital). It is a very common side effect. Whether it gives you a headache or not has NOTHING to do with whether or not your pain is heart-related.

nitro opens up the arteries so that the flow of blood moves easier, this could cause you to have a headache but anyone that is taking nitro needs to have a doctors approval, so its already a fact that there is heart problems, I hope this helps you to understand more clearly

No you do not get a headache. But you do return to a normal state of breathing. Having chest pains the nitro is intended to resolve that problem and you want be worrying about a headache. I never heard of anyone having this problem

Not true. As a matter of fact, response to nitroglycerine has no diagnostic significance of any sort.
