Do you have:

_ HIV/ AIDS
_ HSV 1
_ HSV 2
_ HPV
_ Hepatitis A
_ Hepatitis B
_ Hepatitis C
_ Chlamydia
_ I do not have any STDs
_ I’d rather not say at this time

It seems like a simple question but go on any personals website like Yahoo, Match, Lava Life, True, eHarmony, MSN, etc. and you won’t find it any where. Nor by doing a “keyword” search will any of the terms come up in the millions of profiles on these sites. Why would a site that is tacitly encouraging you to have sex disregard your personal safety by not even asking prospective partners to address the topic?

Even if they did put that on there, people would just lie about it. I'm sure that they would either 1 just never tell you, or 2 wait until they get to know you better before they tell you. I used to work in a bar and one night I looked around at these guys and thought to myself that at least one person in the entire bar had to have HIV, with the number of people out there that have it, there just had to be at least one and probably alot more than that. I know that if I asked each and every one of them, they would all say that they are clean. But if every guy was clean as they say then there wouldn't be any STDs. How many times have you slept with someone and had the whole talk about health? Most guys will say that they know that they are clean, most guys will also say that they have never had an STD HAHA! I think some guys have this idea that if they walk into the doctors office and sit in the waiting room then that qualifies has being checked lol.

That information is private. Many people don't want to disclose this kind of information about themselves to strangers. Just like dating websites don't "ask" for a credit rating - would you put your credit rating in a dating website? Probably not. Because...it's nobody else's business!

Once you get to know a person, more information starts to come out. Then you have decisions to make. If they have an STD, do you want to get involved? If they have shitty credit, do you want to get involved?

It's called people wanting to protect their privacy. You don't disclose everything about yourself on a first date, do you?

They do ask it on sites that are for finding sex buddies, but nobody is going to list STD's on a personals profile when it's going to be viewed along with their picture by all kinds of people who they're never going to end up dating... STD status is more appropriately discussed in person prior to engaging in any sexual relations.

Dude, many many people DO NOT KNOW they have a STD!

Relying on DISCLOSURE as a primary prevention tool is fool-hardy at best. PROTECT yourself!

Funny you didn't mention: Gonorrhea, Syphilis, or Trichomoniasis!
