Orange is my favorite color in the world, so I don't think that it's a stupid color to wear. Honestly, maybe it's because of the way that people wear it that make you think it's so stupid. They will wear everything casual like some dark blue jeans, and maybe even some black shoes, but then they add this bright orange shirt that doesn't seem to go with the flow of their attire. If they maybe did some other light colors with their outfit like some white pants, and orange shoes, then maybe you wouldn't see it as being stupid. I actually don't think it stupid, because what about bright yellow t-shirts? and tie-dye shirts? Orange is pretty cool once you think about it.

Really? :)

--Because it is commonly used as a "Warning, Danger!" type of color by people from hunters to paramedics to yes, corrections personnel to *mark* people and things as High Visibility. So folks tend to think of it as that "High Visibility" color.

--Because as far as colors go, it is harder for a *blended* color to be easy on the eyes....Purple colors have this same problem, when they work they work really well, but when they don't, they can come off as "off color" or visually dissonant (looking like someone was shooting for red, yellow or blue, and screwed up).

--Because orange is one of those few colors that has a really *obnoxious* habit of "floating" in one's field of vision off of a *lot* of colors. Meaning, like some really *bright* or saturated shades of red or blue, orange can seem to pop-up off the surface of another darker or less saturated color, shimmer with *any* sign of movement, and generally make folks nauseous unless the color match is really good.

--Because the *word* orange doesn't naturally or fully rhyme with anything. Just saying, you know it's true. ;)

--Because like yellow is with *tan colors*, darker, de-saturated versions of *orange*--your *brown* colors, are generally seen as looking better, and the color matches do tend to work out better.

Having said all that though....Orange hues *can* work as trim. Particularly if the outfit isn't all that formal.

Just saying. :)

It's not a stupid color to wear. Don't follow what others wear. Wear what you want [As long as it looks good!!]. Opinions are just what others think. What about what YOU think?
