it is an urgent need of the hour, policy makers don"t know what is happening on ground.school children and college students are sexuallly active and many suffer from Sexually Transmitted Infections, some even to HIV/AIDS. without right information this situation is going to worsen. I myself counselled many school students who are frequent visitors to commercial sex workers. I knew few students who are HIV positive, and among them some are not ready to share this information with there family and friends.Intresting thing is since this U.P.A. govt came in power lakhs of pepole are testing positive and this govt. is underestimating the numbers in a strange way.One year it come out with only 28,000 new patients added in a year.
Absolutely wrong figure, highly underestimated.
pepole sleeping in ivory towers must wake up now

Yes, definitely as the number of AIDS CASES in India is high and nearly 50& of the new cases are in the age group between 15 -25 years and the youth of today are attcked by messages and advertisements which cater to the baner instincts only, I feel the time has come for the parents to talk to the children about sex,STD and AIDS

Ofcourse awareness is needed and we should be bold enough to speak such things.
But the publicity we are getting to AIDS is out of proportion due to huge external funding. India should feel concern on diseases like cancer, heart attacks and TD, which are contributing more than 80 per cent of deaths in the country due to disease.
Government/NGOs are not worried in providing nutration food to AIDS affected people or needed medicare, but creating fear among people. A person with AIDS can survive for 20 years, but not with problems of cancer, heart or tb.]

Yes, Its is necessary today, that parents should discuss with their children about the spread of AIDS. They should give them awareness about aids, AIDS not only transfers through sex, but also by, unwashed injection needles and also by razors. If parents make them aware of this, we may certainly make slow down the spread of AIDS.....

It is not just India, everywhere we should be telling our young people. and not the scare tactics they used here, I mean real education. I have spoken with someone in Japan and he told me they are running the same old scare routine. It just doesn't work, people, or should I say, smart people are the ones who educate themselves and there families, then they can be safe and not go overboard like America did.

YES!!!!! If someone is unsure look at Africa's stats for aids... there are two kinds..one that kills fast and one slow.. A virus reacts to the population.. the slow killing one stays around so it has time to be transferred due to minimal contact a sparser population... the fast one has a higher population mix and more contact..it doesn't have to stay around long to be transferred

YES! My roommate was telling my about an HIV ed program in rural rajistan that didn't once explain how HIV is transmitted because talking about it is so taboo. HIV in India is already exploding into a major epidemic. People will eventually learn to talk about the 'sex' word with their kids, but it's already to late for milions.
