It's possible. If it's your first time and you've never had one before, consult a gynecologist because those symptoms are characteristic of other, more serious problems (such as STIs, or sexually transmitted infections). Yeast infections are usually a PH imbalance, an increase in your body PH resulting in itching, burning, a whitish discharge, and sometimes a smell, depending on its cause.
If you are sure it is a yeast infection, limit your sugar intake and see your doctor. Doctors can prescribe a topical cream or a one-time pill that's the most convenient solution. If a doctor is not available, though I strongly suggest seeing one, there are over the counter products where you insert creams for 1 day, 3 days, or 7 days. The 7 day treatments are the most effective, and are not painful/very uncomfortable like the 1 day and 3 days are. Until you treat the issue, you can use dilluted hydrogen peroxide (one cup water to one teaspoon of peroxide) on the itchy areas to make it a bit more bearable. There are also common home remedies, such as inserting a naked garlic glove into the vagina, or inserting sugar free yogurt directly into the vagina.

Yes, it sounds like you may have a yeast infection. Usually the discharge is whitish and usually it is NOT malodorous (contrary to the popular belief). It is usually itchy as well (can be very itchy). It is not trasmisible, so you don't need to worry if you have a sex partner.
The easiest treatment is Diflucan 1 tablet of 150 mg given once, however you need a prescription. Monistat ovules, is an excellent product as well and it is sold over the counter. You may try the 7 day treatment and there is also a one dose treatment (Monistat 1) which is stronger (need to make sure you are not pregnant with this dosage).
I would advise to go with the Monistat 1. Something to keep in mind is that the redness and itchiness in the skin needs a topical treatment. Monistat usually comes with a cream to apply outside your vagina, in the areas of redness.
The redness is INDEED yeast, not warts like someone suggested above.
Hope it helps.

If it is yeast. Monistat sold at your local drug store.
Your saying skin indicating some type of growth. You should see a doctor, because that is not yeast. Sounds like a genital wart, not sure.
