Go to your pharmacy and get a cough medication like Robitussin that has 1) guifenisen, 2) dextromethorphan and 3) pseudoephedrine (you may need an adult to sign for the cough syrup since it contains pseudoephedrine, as it's regulated in most places). The first is to help loosen mucus; the second is a cough suppressant; the third is a general decongestant. Drink LOTS of water, juice, and other clear fluids (Gatorade is good) to help thin the mucus; avoid drinks containing caffeine, and definitely stay away from alcohol while you're taking the medication (presumably something you're not going to be drinking at age 12 anyway). Take Tylenol/acetominophen for the fever; do NOT take aspirin - people under 21 are at risk for Reyes syndrome if they take aspirin for a viral infection. Pitch the antibiotic (or save it for something bacterial) if you're SURE you have a viral infection, as antibiotics won't do a thing for viruses. Between now and Christmas, REST as much as possible, and let the body repair itself.

Good luck!

There is nothing you can do. Stay hydrated and if you don't have a bacterial infection, why are you taking an antibiotic? You don't say when you got sick but most viral URIs only last about 5 days so you may be feeling OK by Monday.

this really works it is a old time remeady, BUT YOU MUST ASK YOUR PARENTS FIRST use 1/3 each of honey, lemon juice, and whiskey, mix well together and give a teaspoon about every 2 hours and you will be better before you know. this was used before penecillin was widely used.

FIRST MUST ASK YOUR PARENTS.
