The babe-in-the-womb is protected by "lactofferin" naturally present at the entrance of your vagina area to the womb. Lactoferrin has antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and immunomodulatory activities. Raw fish is not a problem.

It's true that we are told to avoid eating the sushi that contains high and low concentrations of mercury because eating that kind of sushi might badly affect the brain of unborn baby.
But that doesn't mean that pregnant women shouldn't eat the kind of sushi. They can eat it but they should limit eating the kind of sushi to once or twice a week.
But until today, we didn't really know about that and I'm sure my mom had sushi when she was pregnant and I think my brain is fine :)

I'm sure there are some that do, even though they shouldn't! There a lot of worse things you could do while pregnant... drinking, smoking, etc. Though I think there are certain types of sushi that are okay to eat while pregnant.

I am not sure about the native Asian people, but I would advise against it. It is Ok every now and then, but the mercury in all fish (cooked and raw) is bad for a developing fetus.

YEAH I heard that too, recently. That you are not supposed to eat sushi if you're pregnant. I don't think many people know about this, though.
