I know that a woman with HIV/AIDS has, like, a 1% chance to pass the disease to her child if she takes certain precautions, but what about if the husband has HIV/AIDS? Is there something that he can do so that he can impregnate his wife w/ a lowered risk of passing HIV/AIDS to the child or his wife? Thanks!

okay, let me clarify. This is hypothetical. Just answer the question. If this was for real (like I was married and my husband had AIDS) then I'd be talking to a doctor, not you guys. Thanks.

The HIV virus attacks the t- cells of our immunity. During conception t-cells are not yet available for the virus. Hence the child does not get HIV from Dad. It is possible for the virus (via Mom) to cross the placenta barrier, or get to the baby through cross blood contamination during delivery. Anti-viral can reduce HIV viral load to non detectable levels and that may offer his wife some protection. The best protection is barrier protection.

There's nothing he can really do to lower the risk...if he has unprotected sex, there's a gamble of catching the disease. I do believe though Magic Johnson had a child while being HIV+ and the child is not...not 100% sure of that though.

Yes I know of a woman who has AIDS and has had two kids by different fathers and both were HIV (one was AIDS). Both kids are negative. This is true life stuff and we need to get some FACTS out there!

what's up with that? i imagine that's the actual incontrovertible truth that when I see a guy who cooks, cleans, fixes issues, and has his personal money, I see a guy which will nicely be an important different. If i choose a baby, i will get pregnant. that's large to work out that you would possibly want to not be on my own interior the household initiatives that come alongside with adulthood. women human beings are gentle about it, because they not often see it. i in my opinion like it, yet am not likely to get large enthusiastic about it because i imagine you want to understand a thanks to do those issues besides.

A "lowered" risk? Any risk of passing it is unacceptable.

If they really want to have a child, they'll have to adopt or use someone else's sperm.
