Feed the damn kid meat.

I'm in that situation except for the fact that me and my partner are no longer together, which in some ways makes it easier. My son has a vegetarian diet while he's with me as that's what I eat, and I expect he eats meat when he's with his dad but I never ask. At the end of the day I have no right to tell my ex what to feed our son, so I respect what he chooses for him and he respects me for the same. I think if we were together it would be trickier. I wasn't veggie while me and my ex were together so we didn't have that issue. I think I would have to ask for a comprimise and say to my partner that I can't tell him not to give our son meat, but I'd like to make him some vegetarian meals too. Then both of our opinions are respected.
Later on the child of a situation like this will make his or her own mind up. I know it's not as easy as that in real life though. In an ideal situation that issue should be discussed before the mum gets pregnant in the first place.

Raise the child a vegetarian and let him or her make the decision to eat meat when s/he's old enough to make the choice.

He or she won't be mad at you for not feeding him or her meat earlier. If you do the reverse, and the kid decides to be vegetarian, s/he has to live with the guilt of past meat consumption.

In my family, the children are vegetarian as am I. Husband does not mind because he knows I am doing it for health reasons and am not forcing it upon him. Also, when the children grow up and have an understanding of why we are vegetarian, then they can make their own decisions. Hubby and I talked about this before jumping in all the way!!!

It usually depends on the preference of the parents. If the mom can't stand for the kid to eat meat, let him be vegetarian till he's old enough to choose. That way he is not needlessly eating meat, but does have a choice and all. Unless, of course, the mother doesn't care either way, in which case who knows?

it depends on what the parents agree to teach the child. both of my parents eat meat and i have been a vegetarian since i could choose my own food, so i don't know if it even matters that much.

It depends on who's cooking. If Mom's cooking, the kid's gonna be a vegetarian, at least at home.

It's whatever the child decides to be. The child usually decides. If you want them to be a specific one you can feed them that type of food.

Haaa, I use that same description of meself:ominvore. Well, as long as mom can handle it, have baby eat lots of vegetables and the like, with minimum meat products. I hope she likes eggs. Yumm
