I teach French because many people want to learn it, but I also teach Spanish and Japanese. I get frustrated with French books, they’re like a broken record, they all talk about how the French art is the best (I think Japanese and Chinese art are better), how Paris is beautiful (the whole city smells like pee and it’s full of prostitutes), and they talk about how the French food is the finest in the world.
I know French food; I don’t see why is it better than anything else. I see many Chinese restaurants because the food is delicious, there are Japanese steak and sushi houses because they are elegant and have fine eating. American Mexican food is not really Mexican, but they try, and it’s still delicious. I think Italian food is finest in the world, you have the Olive Garden, their food is delicious.
Are the French people dumb, what gave them the idea their food was the best?

French people were writing those books-everyone thinks their culture and food are the best-it's human nature

Your the one whose stupid! To answer your question about the food is that French Cuisine is different form American cuisine. Americans are used to chicken, shrimp, beef. But in France they eat stuff like snails, sheep brain, etc. And I'm sure you can look around in some places of America and find it filled with prostitutes! I can't believe that you think the Olive Garden is the real Italian food..lol you are pretty ignorant. All they sell there is pasta and chicken Parmesan! That isn't the real stuff! And the only Mexican place you've probably ever eaten at is Taco Bell! LOL The Chinese food you've probably tasted is your local take-out restaurant. That too isn't the real stuff....you can't possibly think that Chinese people fill there bodies with that junk! Your quite funny!

If you don't see any French restaurants. it's because you are either sight-impaired, stupid, or living in East Jesus, Texas! There are literally thousands & thousands of French restaurants all over the world, and they succeed because the French "analytical" approach to food may well be the epitome of cooking. Without French methods there would be no Vietnamese food, American food would be completely different, and Chinese, Thai & Italian food would be unrecognizable to you!
The fact that you like Olive Garden says a whole lot about how concerned you are about your "pallete", LOL!

I think that the best forms of French food are the things that you can eat outside of a restaurant setting. Grabbing a Baguette, some awesome cheese, and some wine is fantastic, light, and easy. But it wouldn't require a restaurant. There are french restaurants, but they are mostly very upscale.

Well french food is actually very very good. It's really hard to actually experience REAL french food, because most restaurants just want to catch those stupid enough to order chicken fingers at an French restaurant.

Supply and demand.
Unfortunately, many Americans share your "taste" in food (Olive Garden, for example)
The free economy supports as many French restaurants as are required to meet the demand for them. I, for one, prefer French cuisine to all others, but I also enjoy the foods of many, many cultures.

It all depend on what the author likes. If the book is written by French national, he is obligated to promote French food -- just to be sincere to his country.
It is just like the cookbooks. I once asked the author how he decided what recipe go into his book. His answer -- "I cook, and my two associates taste and we decide"
Don't see much of French Restaurants, but I know people like "French Kiss", "French Fries" for sure :-

There are lots of great French restaurants. The food is delicious. They invented "cuisine"! Maybe you should just stick with teaching Spanish and Japanese if the French culture bothers you so much, n'est pas?

The OLIVE GARDEN for Italian? Please. You do not know what Italian food is if you equate it with that crap. I have been to Italy and it is much better than that., Not only that, there are good French restaurants around. Perhaps you do not know the difference.

I don't know where on Earth you live, but I live in Chicago, and most really nice upscale restaurants are French. Maybe the kids don't go there because they cannot afford it.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but Olive Garden is cheap chain, and it's not real Italian at all.
Do your research before asking stupid questions.
